Appreciate you having me.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Host:</b></div><div>&nbsp;Scott, let’s begin at the beginning. What led you to start Whiskey &amp; Wealth Club? What gap did you see, and how did your earlier experiences prepare you for this?</div><div><br></div><div><b>Guest:</b></div><div>&nbsp;Well, I’ve been involved in business and investment for many years — telecoms, event management, wholesale beverages, financial services. Through those roles, I saw how asset-backed investments could provide stability, but there was a missing piece when it came to whisky, especially cask whisky. We noticed that private individuals were often locked out of ultra-wholesale prices, or they didn’t have access to distilleries directly. So in 2018, along with Jay and William, we formed Whiskey &amp; Wealth Club with the vision to bridge that gap.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div><b>Host:</b></div><div>&nbsp;That’s interesting — combining your background in investment with something so tangible, mature, and with its own culture. Was there a specific moment or story that convinced you whisky could be more than just a drink, but also an investment and luxury asset?</div><div><br></div><div><b>Guest:</b></div><div>&nbsp;Yes — I think one of the clearest moments was witnessing the mismatch between distilleries’ waiting costs and their need for revenue early on, and the demand from collectors who often want mature stock but can’t access supply without paying premiums. We saw that distilleries are sitting on “future value,” and if you build the bridge properly, there’s value for everyone — the distillery, the investor, the luxury-collector.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Host:</b></div><div>&nbsp;Let’s talk about leadership. Building a business that sits at the intersection of luxury, investing, and tangible assets — that must have its own challenges. What defines your leadership style, Scott?</div><div><br></div><div><b>Guest:</b></div><div>&nbsp;For me, leadership is about transparency, accessibility, and shared value. We have a promotion path in the company that is strictly merit-based — you hit the metrics, you move up, potentially become a business partner. I believe people perform better when they see real opportunity, when they feel part of something bigger. Also, I make sure to stay close to the team: having my desk out in main office floor, being reachable — I want everyone to feel we’re in this together.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div><b>Host:</b></div><div>&nbsp;That resonates a lot, especially in creative and luxury-oriented businesses. With high customer expectations, scarcity issues (in aged whisky) and supply chain lags, how do you manage quality, consistency, and integrity in your business operations?</div><div><br></div><div><b>Guest:</b></div><div>&nbsp;It’s about being very selective with distillery partners, forecasting our supply, and investing in due diligence. We do deep research on the whisky product, maturation conditions, provenance, potential exit paths. Also, setting realistic expectations with investors — whisky doesn’t mature overnight. It takes years. We built our model on that timeline, not trying to shortcut quality.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Host:</b></div><div>&nbsp;Let’s shift to legacy. When people hear “legacy,” what comes to mind for me is something that outlives you — impact, reputation, the difference made. What kind of legacy are you building with Whiskey &amp; Wealth Club?</div><div><br></div><div><b>Guest:</b></div><div>&nbsp;I want Whiskey &amp; Wealth Club to be remembered not just as an investment vehicle, but as a brand that elevated how people understand and participate in luxury asset-ownership. I want us to push the standard in the cask whisky investment world — for fairness, transparency, and for enabling people to own a piece of something rare. If twenty or thirty years from now, investors look back and say, “Yes, that was a company that did it right” — that’s legacy.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Host:</b></div><div>&nbsp;Luxury can sometimes be misunderstood — it’s more than price tag. How do you define luxury in your context, and how do you ensure that your clients genuinely experience luxury through your offering, not just in name, but in substance?</div><div><br></div><div><b>Guest:</b></div><div>&nbsp;Good question. Luxury for us means authenticity, craftsmanship, rarity, attention to detail. For example, the condition of the casks, the distillation process, how we handle maturation, the documentation and provenance. Also, personalized service: when someone invests, they should feel they’re in premium territory — communication, access, transparency. Luxury isn’t just owning something rare; it’s the experience around it.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Host:</b></div><div>&nbsp;Scott, from your journey, what are some of the biggest lessons you’d share with someone starting out — especially in areas where luxury meets business, or investing meets passion?</div><div><br></div><div><b>Guest:</b></div><div>&nbsp;A few come to mind:</div><div>Do your due diligence. Research deeply — from the market trends (whisky supply/demand), legal/maturation laws, to distillery reputation.</div><div><br></div><div>- Patience is key. Whisky investments don’t flip overnight. You need to think long-term — 5, 10, even 20 years depending on the product.</div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size: 1rem;">- Build trust. In luxury and investment, reputation matters. Be transparent with customers, report honestly, deliver on promises.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size: 1rem;">- Stay adaptable. Markets change, regulations, customer preference evolves. Be ready to pivot or refine your offering.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size: 1rem;"><b>Host:</b></span></div><div>&nbsp;We’ve talked about leadership, business, legacy, luxury. To tie it back to what we do here at Worthminds, if you had to pick one core principle from your journey that embodies all four — leadership, legacy, business, luxury — what would that be?</div><div><br></div><div><b>Guest:</b></div><div>&nbsp;I’d say integrity through excellence. Leadership requires authenticity; legacy is built when excellence is consistent; luxury is felt when excellence is real; business works when integrity underpins every decision. Without integrity and a commitment to excellence, none of the rest holds up.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Host:</b></div><div>&nbsp;Powerful. Thank you, Scott.
