A short overview of my life, and what inspired me to write books: Burned Butter Island my last one which I also illustrate, what inspired me to paint, draw, and mainly to find the poetry, beauty and love in what that God created... God is love...
I was born in Mexico on a cold winter day. I was a timid girl. I loved silence and rain and a long green carpet above my room's floor.
I had two fluffy rabbits that I also loved. I could see the forest and a river from my home.
Once, even a shepherd with his sheep passing by.
It was a bucolic view that I still keep.
My childhood was filled with stories and dreams, awake and in asleep. Papa worked a lot.
He was kind and gentle. Mama created a world for us, for my brother and I, of fantasy and of comfort, of love.
It was as if the chimney was constantly f-giving fire within the house, and yet it was rarely on. That was the feeling of home, a constant fire, a constant warmth, a constant love. And that is God.
Love is God.
I remember since little, I used to go to Catholic mass on Sundays, and even if I did not understand completely what happened there, for I was a child, it was an uplifting feeling of mystery of heaven, of eternity and peace that I perceived
and loved.
Nana taught me to pray to our mother, the Virgin Mary, the rosary. Nana took care of me and of my brother while Mama was decorating the house, or she was plumbing or gardening or even constructing a wooden table.
I loved chocolate since I was a child. It was stored at the superior part of a cupboard, and I enjoyed the little moments I had it, watching cartoons,
for example. I also loved reading in my room and drawing.
I loved seeing the mirrors on the walls of the house reflecting tons of other things, among them, the greenery that was at home, all the plants that my mama and my papa had, as if nature was inside. And this brown, warm furniture that my mama constructed,
as if they were cups of coffee, comforting and giving a tender embrace.
I was, and still I am, highly sensitive, intuitive,
and feel and see in little things their beauty and their value. There is poetry in the little things of everyday life, in all, in all seasons, in all colors, all weathers, there is beauty. And in all that is good, in all that is godly, there is beauty.
One day in England, where I was living and completing a doctoral degree in contemporary art, I felt I wanted to write books that touched the hearts of people. It was like a thunder, like a revelation that I felt in the bottom of my heart.
And so, I am still writing those books. Greta Alegre, Blanco, Jardin Cerrado are three short novels that I wrote in Spanish. My last two books, The Blue Whale Sings From Afar, a collection of poems which occu-occur through the seasons of the year, and Burnt Potter Island, a poetic fairy tale illustrated by me, they are written in, in English and can be purchased at amazon.com.
I am writing now a new book alongside loving my husband, our child, and our dog, a little fox terrier. I live in Vienna, Austria, where the nature, the forests, and the lakes
of this country are
s-especially
soothing for the heart, for the soul.
My afternoons, I paint, I draw, and I create small collage that I also,
uh, post on my Instagram account. They also inform my poetry and writings, and I sell them.
My Instagram account @silenceandtherabbitdiary.
There, one can also find my books and my poetry and my artwork.
Love is what guides my writings, my art, and my life. God is love. Jesus and Mary are love, and I love them,
and I would like
them to be known and loved by everybody.
God is love. Love is all. Jesus and Mary are love. "Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love." I quote
this phrase, First of John, chapter four, versicle eight.
I repeat it because it's really beautiful,
and it's from the Bible.
First of John, chapter four, versicle eight. "Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love."
I hope that my books and my art transmit the love that the world and all of us need.
